Who is Julianna Rose Mauriello?
Being a child celebrity isn’t easy. Besides working long hours on set and missing out on the usual childhood activities, many young actors and actresses have to worry about what will happen after they stop playing the iconic roles that made them famous – unfortunately, not all are successful. It’s safe to say the lucky ones become far more famous than they were before. Julianna Rose Mauriello rose to prominence playing the smart and optimistic pink-haired girl Stephanie, in the series “Lazy Town” but after the second season, she was replaced since she grew up physically, and became too old to play an 8-year-old girl.

Early life, family, and education
Born under the zodiac sign of Gemini on 26 May 1991, Julianne recently celebrated her 32nd birthday. She hails from Irvington, New York USA, holds American nationality, and comes from a family of German, Irish and Italian descent. She was raised by her parents, whose names haven’t been disclosed, alongside her sister Alex, who is also an actress, perhaps known best as Krystal in the series “The Vampire Diaries”. When it comes to Julianne’s educational background, she attended the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City, and upon matriculating from high school in 2009, she enrolled at Columbia University from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy in 2013.
Acting career
Before she began her screen acting career, Julianne made her stage debut playing Asleep Child under the Christmas Tree in the play “The Nutcracker” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. She was also seen in the play “Gypsy: A Musical Fable with Bernadette Peters” by Arthur Laurents.
Julianne made her first TV series appearance as Erika in an episode of “Sesame Street: Fiesta!” in 1997. Two years later, she was seen as Trixie Bottom in the TV movie “Bonne Nuit”. Her most notable role as Stephanie in the series “LazyTown” came in 2004, and through 2007, she was seen in 52 episodes of this family adventure which followed the story of Stephanie who came to visit her uncle, Milford Meanswell, who was the mayor of LazyTown. When she met the other kids, she tried unsuccessfully to persuade them to play with her instead of sitting at home playing video games and eating candy. This changed when Stephanie asked Sportacus for assistance. When he did come, the entire community pitched in to make LazyTown a more energetic place to live.

Stephanie was a cheerleader and dancer, a sweet and sassy girl, proud of her optimism and self-confidence. Her ‘enemy’ was Robbie Rotten, who loves to eat junk food and watch TV, however, Stephanie and Sportacus would always win.
For her performance, Julianne was nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series in 2006. Her co-stars were Magnus Scheving, who played Sportacus, and Stefan Karl Stefansson, who played Robbie Rotten, and the show had nine award nominations and two wins, including the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Children’s Award for Best International.
In the following year, Julianne reprised her role as Stephanie in 26 episodes of the series “LazyTown Extra”, which featured original characters in short, humorous sketches. Later in 2008, Julianne was cast to play Pyper in the short drama “A Fix”, in which she starred opposite Skye McCole Bartusiak and Bridget Lappert. The movie followed the story of Pyper, who has been bullied by Natalie since she was five years old, and now, when they are in their senior year of high school, a tragic event alters their lives forever. Although the movie had no nominations, it was well-accepted by the audience.
Julianne was most recently heard in an episode of the 2013 animated series “The Doc Files”.

After Julianne left “LazyTown”, she focused on her education. After a five year hiatus, she had the aforementioned voice role, but it seems that she decided to leave acting completely. She now lives a far more private life, however, her fans can find her on Instagram – her official account has been followed by over 30,000 people, and in her bio, she wrote that she’s that energetic girl with pink hair and a pink dress.
Love life and relationships
Julianne was a young girl, while she was in the spotlight, therefore she hasn’t been the subject of any rumors concerning her love life. Later, rumors were saying that she’s lesbian and that she was in a relationship with a girl known as Amanda Burwasser. Reportedly, the two met in the Professional Performing Arts School, and allegedly there were YouTube videos showing Julianne and Amanda kissing. Some websites reported that while she was at college, Julianne also dated girls.
Now, as a grown woman, Julianne often shares photos featuring her boyfriend on her Instagram. Julianne hasn’t shared his name, but she often calls him ‘my love’ and ‘love of my life’. Judging by her Instagram posts, they’re in a long-term relationship, as Julianne began posting their joint photos in early 2020, and the couple is still together as of July 2023.
